Real Estate Underwriter

We are currently working with an ambitious MGA who have shown some impressive growth over the last few years, are part of a larger group and who are on an incredible business journey. They are keen to speak to those with Commercial Property or Household Underwriting experience who would like to join them on this journey, working for them as a Real Estate Underwriter based in their Basildon office, which currently has 22 staff.

This office handles new, existing and renewal Real Estate business via multi product and multi distribution channels including e-trade, sub coverholder and open market brokers. They are looking for underwriters who understand the need to trade with their brokers and provide a first-class service at all times.

Your role will be two-fold. Firstly, they are looking for an experienced underwriter to evaluate the risk and exposures of customers for new business, mid-term adjustments and renewals from their network of UK and Ireland brokers. Quoting, converting, and retaining business to meet budget and underwriting performance targets for the range of specialist Commercial Property insurance products in their eTrade, facultative and sub binder distribution channels. Secondly, they are looking for someone who can come in and be a technical lead and mentor to more junior members of the team. As such, to be considered for this role you will need to have extensive Commercial Property underwriting experience, gained in an MGA or Insurer or Lloyds syndicate and already have your Cert CII with strong technical skills.

You will also need to possess a friendly professional demeanour with the ability to excel in a trading underwriting environment.

Benefits include Life insurance 3x salary, 25 days holiday plus bank hols, Discretionary annual performance bonus, Pension – they contribute 5% on the basis you contribute 2.5% and Private medical care (after 12 months service)

Salary on offer is £25-35,000 depending on experience. Working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, with hybrid working and 2 days a week in the office. Please note there may be some movement on the salary for the right person.
