They seek someone based in the North. The role itself with be responsible for managing and developing broker relationships across the North of England and Scotland. A large proportion of your brokers will be based in Leeds, Manchester, and York and into Scotland in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Dundee. As such this is a home-based role, with travel required to broker sites across these areas. It is envisaged you will need to visit Scotland 1-2 days a month maximum.

They have a very low turnover of staff here too. There are a number of factors for this, such as a very grown up and supportive working culture, as well as a culture of team collaboration amongst the business development team (currently made up of 5). Speaking to the BD Director here, his passion and love for the business really shone through, and this seems to be reciprocated across the organisation. Simply put, people stay here for the long term once they join, with most of the business having been here from 8-20 years!

This role is available due to the current role holder retiring, though they will stray on to assist in any handover, so you can expect bags of support from day 1 here as you look to settle into the role from the current role holder as well as the management team.

You will be responsible for promoting the firms range of claims assistance products to brokers in the North and Scotland region, support and develop existing broker relationships to retain existing revenue and increase policy sales. As well as prospecting activities to establish new broker relationships, though the Director here did say that most new brokers actually approach them, there is a huge existing bank of broker clients here to manage and develop.

You will have regular contact with brokers through face-to-face meetings, video calls, phone calls and emails and delivering training workshops to help brokers better understand the features and benefits of the firms products for their customers.

They are looking to speak to those who currently work in the broker development/relationship space (ideally within the commercial property or Household space, though they are also keen to consider you if your experience is in other commercia insurance areas) and you must be a confident communicator who is able to carry out PowerPoint presentations to prospects as well as delivering training to brokers when needed.

In return, the basic salary on offer is £50-60k depending on experience and track record (though they may be able to go slightly higher for the perfect person), plus annual bonus and a car allowance of between £4-5k p.a, as well as other company benefits such as Pension, private health insurance and many more in a flexible benefits package.

Working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm though as you would expect with this role, you may work longer hours on days you are out seeing clients, and less when at home catching up on admin!
